TAAF Expresses Grave Concern Over the Approval of HR.106 in the House Committee
The Turkish American Alliance for Fairness (TAAF)
expresses grave concern and deep disappointment for
the approval of the House Resolution 106 (HR.106) in
the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday.
The HR.106 is based on one-sided information that
serves a group of greedy lobbyists whose livelyhood
depends on the perpetuation of hatred against Turks
and discrimination against Turkish Americans.
Now, the House has become a mirror to project this
hatred towards Turkish-Americans and friends of Turkey
who live in this country. Yesterday's vote of
approval will encourage further attacks and
discrimination against the Turkish-American community,
and deeply wound people of Turkey as well.
It is incomprehensible to TAAF why some
Representatives insist on legislating history instead
of concentrating on many urgent issues that concern
our country today, among them healthcare reform,
social security reform, educational reform, war
against terrorism, and war against drugs. Is this
issue worth endangering the deep friendship between
the peoples of the United States of America and
Republic of Turkey?
TAAF still would like to believe that common sense
will prevail at the end of the day and HR.106 will
either not reach the House floor, or be voted down.
